How do you get lice?
Head-to-head contact is the most common way to get head lice. Sitting on the same fabric furniture, rugs/carpet, and bedding also spreads lice. Although not as common, it can also be spread from sharing brushes, hats, and clothing. Kids almost always get head lice first, likely from school, playdates, or other activities with other children.
What is your process?
I do a pesticide-free combing treatment to both check and treat head lice. For checking for lice, it's the most effective way as you can often miss new cases when looking with the naked eye or even magnified glasses. For treating, products that claim to kill lice and eggs are far from 100%. Nits (eggs) are like spores, and very hard to destroy with medication or pesticides, and best to concentrate on just getting everything out of hair.
Can my pets get lice?
The lice humans get only survives on human blood. Your dogs and cats will never get lice from you, no matter how bad your children's cases are.
Can my children get re-infested?
I will provide you with proven ways to help prevent reinfestation during our visit. It would also be wise to let your child's school and other parents know about your case. From my years of experience, schools and parents are careful at not mentioning who had lice.
